During our patriotic month we had very interesting activities along with the visit of some friends from Sharing the Journey International, the reason of their visit was, mainly, to do the inventory of the instruments and equipment that are kept in the warehouse, all of this is use to perform surgeries on patients with cleft lip and palate.

Visit to our elderlies

In our patriotic month or month of the homeland, we continue to serve our sisters and brothers through our social assistance programs; in our special care program, we distribute food to some of the most needed elderlies in our town. We visited some of their homes to deliver bags of food supply, some of these people live in communities far from the town, for which we had to travel several kilometers, as in the case of our brother Alejandro Pop and sister Herlinda Cul (who appear in the photograph), they live in the town of Santa Cruz Verapaz in a community called Akamal, to get to their home we traveled about ten kilometers. We had the pleasure of sharing very grateful moments with them, we prayed together and they told us a little about their lives.

Visit of our siblings of Sharing the Journey International

In our Nutrition program, we had the joy of receiving the visit of four of our sisters and sisters from Sharing the Journey International: Jennie, Robin, Jackie and Laura, along with them we were visiting and checking the health and progress of some of the children who are in our program, who were born with cleft lip and cleft palate. These children who are part of the program are provided with formula and bottles with special nipples so that their parents can feed them correctly and thus gain weight to prepare them for surgeries, which will be carried out by surgeons from Sharing the Journey International, probably, in the first months of next year.

Traditional activities

We also had the pleasure of sharing with our friends some of the traditions and folklore of our national holidays, we took them to witness the traditional parade of the town, where many of the schools participate showing the traditional typical costumes. It was a pleasure for us to have shared these days with our friends from STJI.

Medical checking of the patients

In the picture below, we can see our sister Jackie checking on the patient Bryan Estuardo Choc, he lives in Los Cerritos community in Zona Reina, Uspantán. More likely, he will be one of the patients who will have surgery next year.

Meeting with the first patients that underwent surgery

We also had a meeting with the first patients of the program who underwent surgery around seven years ago. It was a pleasure to share those beautiful moments with them and it fills us with satisfaction to see the development that the children have had during these years.

Visit of our friends from Crosspoint Church

By the end of the month, together with our friends from Crosspoint Church, we visited some of the families that are part of the program to provide them with bags of food supply. The photograph below shows the sisters Concepción Pop and Julia Gue together with Pastor Tait Windham and his family, and brother Carlos (on the left), one of our volunteers and translators
